"I had a dream – but a dream is only an idea floating in the air until others feel
that it is important to them too. We all know mentally alert people who are now
in their nineties. That is thirty years beyond their retirement. What are you
planning for the next thirty years after your retirement?
Community-Centred College for the Retired presents alternatives to dreaming alone in an armchair.
Our classes are kept small – six to eight – so we can become “learning friends” during our eight
– week courses. Our Mature (fifty-five years and up) students have a wealth of experience to
share – so discussion and question periods are part of each lesson.
Our courses are called Explorations because it is more fun to explore rather than
to be told. It is great to pursue any subject your curiosity leads you to. It
is rewarding to loosen your creative talents – to learn about your governments
– to express your love and care for others in your community – whether they be
handicapped children or frail seniors. Also it is essential that we ourselves
continue to grow.
We are the new generation in the evolution of mankind. We must dream well – and establish
our dreams – a yellow brick road for our children and grandchildren to follow."
